Olympics 2

I have to admit I'm well and truly hooked on the Olympics. After the extraordinary weekend I wonder how many more medals we (the British) can possibly garner. I shall be at the Olympic Stadium on Thursday to watch the decathlon. Don't know if we've got a chance in that. What I like about the decathlon and the heptathlon is the way the athletes support each other and all do a lap of honour together at the end. Well done Jess Ennis, Greg Rutherford and Mo Farrah.

That man Bolt. He is without doubt the fastest human being on two legs at any rate, and I think if the runway track had been a bit longer he would surely have taken off. Having said that I'm not sure that, from an evolutionary point of view, he and his like would necessarily be the best equipped to survive. You see, in the face of an advancing ice age or flood, fortune will favour the Mo Farrah's of this world, those who can trek their way to safety over several months or years.

  1. Greetings Barnaby

I hadn't appreciated that you will be there on Thursday - Whatever the outcome you are bound to have a great time though of course a gold medal would be good. France has its really great outdoors but I recall visiting the Stratford site of what is now the Olympic Park a few years back. It was really a dump then but now really rather good at lest by comparison with the dump it was. If you arrive early a stroll might be good. My 92 year old dad (who attended the 1948 Olympics)and my younger son and daughter and I even enjoyed an outdoor McD's in the world's largest McDonald's cafe. I haven't eaten one of those for about 10 years.
    Good luck on Thursday.
