Morry Versus Arnaud: Match Point

A new and particularly vicious note was struck yesterday in the war of words between American tyre magnate, Maurice "the Grizz" Taylor Jr, CEO of Titan International, and Arnaud Montebourg, the Minister for Industrial Renewal here in France.

Speaking on the BFM TV news channel, and responding to Mr Taylor's latest remarks, the Minister took exception to being called "an imbecile" and regretted that Mr Taylor felt obliged to lower the debate to the level of the gutter (le niveau du caniveau). Warming to his theme, Mr Montebourg said Mr Taylor was not even capable of writing the Ministry's address correctly. "It should be 75572 Paris cedex 12 and not 75572 Paris cedes 12, he insisted. "It would be very easy for me to characterise the Americans as a bunch of obese slobs (flemmards) and cry-babies who spend their time in front of the television watching American Idol whilst the nation's bridges and roads collapse all around them, but of course I would do no such thing".

Just before I close this correspondence, I should point out that all the posts are completely genuine (except this last one!)
