Harvest in April?

Seen 200 yards from our house two days ago. Can anyone give me the explanation?

Just possibly : harvesting last year's bean crop (like broad beans) for fodder? I believe this is usually done when the beans are fully dried, though April seems a bit odd.
Most likely I am totally wrong - and along will come a farmer to put you right.

  2. A good friend of mine has actually got the right answer but for some strange reason her comment is not displayed. The crop is miscanthus (look it up!).
