A Year in Print (update)

Here are just some of the books I have read in the last year or so. I put in "just" as it gives the impression that I've read a lot more.

Our Kind of Traitor, John le Carré
A Time of Gifts. On foot to Constantinople - From the Hook of Holland to the Middle Danube, Patrick Leigh Fermor
The Unabridged Journals of Sylvia Plath
Arguably, Christopher Hitchens
Slipstream: A Memoir, Elizabeth Jane Howard
All Change, Elizabeth Jane Howard
The Man in the Rockefeller Suit, Mark Seal
George Orwell: A Life in Letters
Cycle of Lies: The Fall of Lance Armstrong, Juliet Macur
Sleep Donation: A Novella, Karen Russell
A Life in Secrets: Vera Atkins and the Lost Agents of SOE, Sarah Helms
Bradshaw's Continental Railway Guide
Spies, Michael Frayn
The Tin Men, Michael Frayn
Mr Mercedes, Stephen King
A Spy Among Friends: Kim Philby and the Great Betrayal, Ben Macintyre
Middlemarch, George Eliot (ongoing project)
The Other Side of Me, Sydney Sheldon
P.G. Wodehouse: A Life in Letters
Le Mort d'Arthur, Thomas Malory
The Years in the Wilderness: 1944-2014, A Prominent Blogger
Being Mortal: Medicine and What Matters in the End, Atul Gawande

The last in the list is the sort of book I probably wouldn't have given a second thought to even ten years ago. It's quite an eye-opener.

    1. It's certainly well worth a read, Sara. You can always download the first chapter free of charge to see if you like it!

    2. Well thanks for that, Barnaby, however having read both the Observer/Guardian and the New Statesman reviews, I decided Highland Libraries would welcome a copy, so have ordered 'Being Mortal' via the mobile library!
