Finders Keepers

In Finders Keepers, Stephen King's latest and in my view truly superb novel, the villain is Morris Bellamy. "Morrie" is not  quite the clean potato, as my mother would have said; his behaviour is inappropriate and, as befits a totally unhinged person, he has already killed three people who were unfortunate enough to inconvenience him in one way or another.. Curiously  enough, the life sentence he is currently serving is for rape and not for murder.

Stephen King writes:

Philosophers have debated the meaning of life for centuries, rarely coming to the same conclusion. Morris studied the subject himself over the years of his incarceration, but his inquiries were practical rather than cosmic. He wanted to know the meaning of life in a legal sense.

That made me laugh.
