The Camera Always Lies

Despite a considerable body of evidence suggesting otherwise, I have always held to the belief that I am in fact a pretty good-looking sort of person. I have had no trouble in dismissing the spate of photos depicting me as, well, ugly, as simply proof that I am not photogenic. That is in fact one of the reasons why I never made much headway in the cinema (another being lack of ability), while people like Tom Cruise and Sir Bradley Pitt, so ugly in real life, have made quite a bit of money in Hollywood.

Plus, going forward, pushing the envelope and speaking on condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the situation, I think I come across as fairly handsome when I look at myself in the mirror.

But, but ,but... can ALL those photos lie? No, I suppose not. And just to compound matters, I'm getting older which is always a negative feature, and there is a worrying increase in the number of pockmarks on my face.

I wonder whether my distress and that of so many other people throughout the world might not represent an opportunity for morticians, one of whose tasks is to prepare the deceased for public display prior to burial or cremation. Couldn't these people be prevailed upon to extend their remit to include "editing" of those of us still in the First Life? Or would that cause a demarcation dispute with plastic surgeons?
