Vladimir Putin - an Apology

Now, where was I? Oh yes, Vladimir Putin. One of the unique things about this blog is that it's author (I) is not afraid to own up when I make a mistake (it's not as though anyone would notice...)

When I wrote some time ago that Vladimir Putin would still be President of Russia after the elections, I could not have been more wrong. I think it's an object lesson to all us cynical folk to be reminded that a gentleman's word is sometimes his bond. Confounding our skepticism, Vladimir has quite simply decided to fade away from public life, never to return. When last seen, he was relaxing in his dacha just outside Odessa on the Black Sea. As he laughingly told reporters, he now has more time to keep fit and is now up to 300 press-ups before breakfast. This much is obvious from a cursory glance at his sports jacket, specially made for him by Foster Bros of Braintree. The sleeves now stop short at his elbows.
