The Home Straight

There is always something sad about the end of a competition and we shall be sorry to say goodbye to Barrack Obama and John McCain. It's been a lot of fun and we've meet some interesting and outlandish characters along the way (Sarah Palin). But these things can't go on forever.
One of the dangers of this kind of reality show is that the public might end up voting for the wrong person. This has actually happened in the past... Luckily the people who dreamt up the concept have made the rules sufficiently complicated to allow the experts to step in and, if necessary, tweak the results a bit.
Of course, the first thing that both finalists will do once the votes are in is go off for a long and well-earned rest. They must be absolutely shattered after a programme schedule lasting over 18 months, and they are quite right to insist on at least six months before being asked to do anything. (The present incumbent was particularly adamant on this point.)

Sorry, rather laboured, I know.
