The Most Addictive Site on the Web (IMHO)

Personally, I like to get my news from an old-fashioned newspaper or the radio. I do go to the web from time to time for updates, breaking news, etc. but, as things stand, it is not my primary source of information (as it is for my brother, for example). I don't quite know why, but I find it very difficult to read anything on the web for more than a few moments without becoming stressed out of my mind.

If you are anything like me then I suggest you DON'T look at this site:

http://fastflip.googlelabs.com/

You are greeted by a sort of slideshow of pages from different publications. The pages are really too small to read easily so click on the first one. This will give you just enough to whet your appetite (or otherwise). If you're hooked just click on the page again and you will be taken to the full article, otherwise use the blue arrow to the right of the screen to move on to the next one. The papers/magazines in question are mostly American and you can of course, "tweak" the programme as we geeks say, to concentrate just on the subject you're interested in (politics, entertainment, world, etc.). Personally I just choose "Recent" and let it rip!

Why does this work (for me) whereas Google News doesn't? I still haven't quite worked out why, but I think it's at least partly a) because you can move so easily and swiftly from one article to another and b) because you can read enough to know whether you'd like to read the whole article (in some cases the snippet IS the whole article). Whatever the reason, I find Google Fast Flip absolutely addictive! Please keep well out of reach.
