I have just been looking at The Washington Post's list of The best and worst of pop music in 2009. I freely admit that I don't follow the latest trends in pop music very closely but at the same time I am not a COMPLETE ignoramus, so I was a bit put out when I didn't recognise a single name on the list. Not only that, I hardly understood a word of of the Post's four-line summary of each artiste. About the only person familiar to me was "Enya" but that didn't help very much: "From Gaga to Glambert, eccentrics ruled 2009. So it only makes sense that the year's best debut came from crypto-genius Swedes who sound like Enya covering Lil Wayne at Lilith Fair 2015. Right?" Right.
It is at moments such as this that I feel the time has come to move over and let the younger generation take over, and see if they can mess things up as much as we have!
