I refer back to my post of last November when I wrote:
"I don't know if you have noticed, but if you look at the top line of this blog (or any other "Blogger" blog) you will see: "Follow Share Report Abuse Next Blog"
Until recently, clicking on "Next Blog" would take you to another, randomly selected blog. In other words, the blog could be on any subject and in any language. But Google will now take me to a blog which is not only in my own language (English) but which is supposed to reflect my own interests..."
This afternoon "Next Blog" brought me to "the Right Honorable The Earl of Stirling, hereditary Governor & Lord Lieutenant of Canada, Lord High Admiral of Nova Scotia. Covers diverse topics including European and North American politics and economics, strategy, war, religion, high technology, End Times, medicine, Scotland, Scottish clans, Scots Peerage Law, and more."
Pretty impressive through the blog itself is not really my cup of tea, to put it mildly. http://europebusines.blogspot.com/
Not many people know that I myself am a papal count. I think my exact title is Count O'Regan von Litten, or something like that. I can't remember the exact details but my story goes something like this:
My father's ancestors were a little too Catholic for their own good so when James II was told to get out of the country and make way for William of Orange, they followed him to France where that nice Louis XIV set them up in St Germain-en-Laye outside Paris. (Incidentally, there's a stunning view of the capital to be seen from the esplanade there.) I'm not quite sure whether the title of papal count was granted to his loyal followers by a broke James or whether it was by an equally broke Bonnie Prince Charlie before or after his abortive comeback in 1745. However that may be, I have inherited an appanage in the village of Litten, if I have spelt it correctly, in the Black Forest. One of these days I intend to go there and claim my inheritance. I shall move among my people and there will be merry-making and feasting. The villagers will be expected to learn my language and I shall collect the backlog of tithes owed to me since 1745.
I can't swear to the total accuracy of the above, but what I do know for certain is that, until fairly recently, I was entitled to attend the Pope's coronation, wearing white gloves.
Now that really does interest me because I'd always thought it was a vile lie cooked up by our sisters!
ReplyDeleteThough I heard the actual title was O'Regan von Rosenburg. Will you be visiting the village/hamlet of Rosenburg in due course?
Very nice post -and funny! I heard that the people of Litten have been expecting their master and are ready to welcome him with a all-you-can-eat-pork-pie-and-fried-corn-flakes buffet.
ReplyDeleteWell thank you, kind sir or lady!
