Soothing Headlines

With the newspapers packed with one disaster after another, it's difficult to know where to turn in search of good news. In these difficult times we don't ask for much; if we can't have good news, bland headlines will suffice. In this respect, I was well served in today's International Herald Tribune:

President says the response to crisis must be global

Learning from the past while preparing for the future

Toward collective decision-making and increased stability in the region

Looking into new realities and exploring new trends

Successful policies of the resource-rich

Regional think tank of global interest

Toward sustainable post-crisis growth

Applied research is key for development

Opening doors for foreign investors

Unfortunately, these cheering headlines were all taken from what is politely known as an "advertising supplement" entitled "Kazakhstan: After the crisis, opportunity". Oh, well.
