An interesting if not particularly original article by Bob Herbert of the IHT about the perils of the modern thirst for communication, for keeping in touch: Iphones, Twitter and Facebook (what's the difference?), e-mail, texting, etc. To be honest, perhaps we should extend our list to include the Web itself (but not of course this blog), television, radio and newspapers? On the other hand, I have no great wish to live in the forest and commune with nature. I just think we should at least recognise that people like me are, in a real sense, addicted and in urgent need of medical attention.
