Scoop Part 2

According to Google, a sizeable majority of the American population wears glasses. The figures vary but if we say 66% I don't believe we would be very wide of the mark, and doubtless this percentage would rise dramatically for people over the age of 55. There is no reason to suppose that things are any different in the UK or France.

What exactly is your point, Mr Dunn?

I shall continue. You would expect the figure to drop somewhat where celebrities are concerned, and this is indeed the case, although not as much as one might think. BUT WHY SHOULD THIS ALSO BE THE CASE WITH PROMINENT POLITICANS? I have just been examining photos of the members of the current French and British governments and as far I can make out virtually none of them wear glasses (Michèle Alliot-Marie is a notable exception). Assuming that the average age of both governments is about 50, how can this be possible?

Are ministers chosen on their ability to see, as opposed to think? Do they wear contact lenses? Do they take off their glasses in public? Could it be that ministers are vain?
