These days medical practitioners are taking increased interest in various parts of my anatomy, starting with the brain and working down to the "nether region" and below, as one might say in polite parlance. It's got to the point that I sometimes forget what exactly the experts are examining and why.
I bow to no-one in my admiration of the medical profession. It is a profession to which many are called but few are chosen. Only the very best survive the rigorous selection process. These debt-ridden and burnt-out doctors are then ready to be let loose on their unsuspecting patients.
Anyway, earlier in the week I had some X-rays taken of my prostate. Afterwards, the radiologist asked me if I had consulted a neurologist recently, No more than a little surprised, I started to tell her something about my condition. I noticed she was becoming more and more perplexed, until I eventually realised that she was inquiring about a urologist and not a neurologist. In French, as in English, the pronunciation (when preceded by the indefinite article) is almost exactly the same.
