The Crown

I have just started watching the new season of The Crown and am already on the third episode. As usual I find it absolutely spellbinding and extrardinarily moving. Why is it so riveting?

First of all, I have to confess I have always been  what the French call fleur bleue and with the arrival of Diana on the scene, I get my money's worth and more.

Secondly, the series is so beautifully acted and produced, it would stand up as a work of fiction in its own right, instead of as a clever mix of fact and fiction.

The Charles and Diana saga rises at times to the level of Greek tragedy. With the benefit of hindsight, the whole thing seems such a mess and could very easily have lapsed into farce. The Royal family comes out of this very badly, especially the Queen. Only Princess Margaret, with memories of her own to call upon, emerges with any credit.

  1. Although I enjoyed The Crown, the series was rather left wing.
Mrs Thatcher who did much good for the UK in very difficult times, came out badly in the series. As for the assassination of Lord Mountbatten; the scenes showing the IRA thug responsible, tended to support them rather than express sympathy for his death. Lord Mountbatten is not my cup of tea by the way but he should have been given better treatment along with his grandson also murdered at the time.
Despite the above I favour of a united Ireland asap!

  2. Hello, Jerry. Whatever one might think of the Royal Family it's better than the Trump Family!

    1. Hello Jerry, thanks so much for your comment. I find the simplest thing on the comptuter very complicated these days. Still, it's good for the brain!
