John le Carré

 News of the death of John le Carré at the age of 89 has left me feeling bereft. I no longer have the wit to put into words all that I think of this extraordinary man, so I have to content myself by saying that he was and is one of our greatest writers and that he was an honourable, decent, kind and very generous man.
