The Last Days of Trump

Donald Trump: not so much evil as mad? Or not so much mad as evil? I personally incline to the latter. Given his sheer cruelty and total lack of compassion, I can't see how even the cleverest lawyer could legitimately plead "mitigating circumstances".It might be said that he bears the scars of his truly awful father, but if we go very far down that road, we are none of us responsible for anything.

What I am about to write may strike many as shocking, but I think the true parallel is with Adolf Hitler, or at least with the last days of Hitler. As the troops of uncle Joe (Biden) approach Washington, Trump's enablers abandon him one by one, leaving only the fanatised ranks of the Proud Boys and conceivably (but very unlikely) the members of his family ready to fight for Trump to the bitter end.

That it should come to this.

  1. If your comment is truly awful then so am I, having been reminded so much of the last days in Berlin.
