The mists clear

As the not very proud possessor of a second rate brain, I have long had to make do with long periods of mediocrity punctuated by occasional and short moments when the mists clear and I can see things with greater clarity (manic depressive on the upswing?).
I'm sorry to say the fog is down again as I write but I can remember two of the "insights" that came to me at the time and that are original in the sense that I haven't seen or heard them elsewhere.

1. There are far fewer bad grandparents than bad parents. That's very true, isn't it?
2. Younger people tend to feel most nostalgic in autumn, older people in spring. I think there's an element of truth in that.
