Round Up

Before I continue with my rather tedious Subliminal Guide to Paris, here are a few random thoughts about what's going on in the world "at this moment in time".

• Fantastic that the BBC's Alan Johnston has been released. What a truly ghastly ordeal it must have been for him, his family and friends.
  
• If Wimbledon can't guarantee "closure" before the start of the football season, perhaps they could arrange to transfer the venue to Dubai. They can afford the grass out there.
• Not only has Switzerland got the best tennis player in the world, it has also got the best sailors. It is quite clear to me that you mess with the Swiss Navy at your peril.
• A lovely quote, attributed to Winston Churchill: "I never trust statistics unless I personally have had a chance to falsify them"
• Why haven't e-books caught on? I would like to come back to this question at a later date.
