Looking Back on 2008

As the year comes to a fitting conclusion it is time to look back on the momentous occasions which have marked our lives over the previous twelve months. The good times and the bad times, the moments of joy and sadness, the agony and the ecstasy, the naked and the dead, the rich and the poor, the north and the south.

If I had to single out just one event, what would it be? Between you and me, I haven’t the slightest idea. The only thing that springs to mind is a slight variation on words made famous by the immortal Tennessee Ernie Ford:

“Another year older and deeper in debt”
