My Grandmother’s Diaries

Those of you following my transcription (http://hesseyfamily.blogspot.com/) of the diary my grandmother kept from 1939, the year my grandfather died, until shortly before her own death, can’t fail to be disgusted by my miserable input in recent times. Well, it is pretty pathetic, isn’t it? I won’t make any rash promises, except to say that the project is NOT abandoned. My sister says I was wrong to start in 1943 and that I would be better advised to go back to the beginning. Point taken! But in the meantime, I will soldier on to the end of 1943. Incidentally, in that year she was about the same age as me and had 7 grandchildren as compared to 5 (soon to be 6) in my case. She regularly cycled into Halstead whereas I regularly cycle to Brazey-en-Plaine (6 km round trip) and more occasionally to Saint-Jean-de-Losne which is about 20 km there and back.
