Not many people realise that the title of Michael Moore’s sensitive and understated account of the USA during the Bush years is in fact a corruption of the famous complaint uttered by Joan the Mad, Duchess of Aquitaine, on being fobbed off with emmental cheese by John the Food Good, Duke of Burgundy: “Duke, where’s my comté?”
