What’s Your Attention Span?

I don’t know about you, but when I read a newspaper or magazine article I find that, try as I might, I can’t stop myself either speeding up or abandoning the article altogether after a while. In many cases, there’s no great harm done as I’ve probably got the gist by the time I’m about half way through, but it would be a shame if we lost the habit of pursuing an argument over a longer period of time. A case in point is this extraordinary article in the current issue of The Atlantic:
