I wanted to write at greater length on this subject but, as always, started getting stressed at the thought of the work I should be doing. Well, that’s part of the story. The other part is the effort of putting my thoughts into order. It just seems to me that no wrongs are ever righted unless they are exposed. For example, I was born and brought up a Catholic, and though I’ve drifted away from the Church in recent years – largely out of laziness – I daresay deep down, I still am (a Catholic). But it just seems to me that, insofar as the Church has moved forward in recent years, it is to a great degree the result of pressure from outside or changes in society which the Vatican has followed but not instigated.
Once again, I am NOT writing out of a feeling of disgust or moral superiority. Perhaps this is the way of the world. In the mean time, the bloodbath in Sri Lanka continues unabated to the utter indifference of the rest of the world, myself included. It’s at times like these that I feel admiration for organisations like the UN which, riddled with corruption and politics as they are, do actually try to help in this sort of situation.
Heard a cuckoo in the middle of the night. Is this usual practice?
