Third Thoughts on George Bush

I'm not altogether satisfied with what I wrote about George Bush yesterday. The fact of the matter is that he had little choice on the issues cited in his defence. The "surge" was his only chance of avoiding complete disaster or humiliation in Iraq just as the massive rescue plan for the banks was the only way to avoid financial meltdown on his beat.

Even so, I hate to see a man kicked when he's down.
