In a surprise move, a conglomerate of businessmen from the Middle East has announced that it is interested in buying up the British monarchy. Following its abortive bid for the Vatican-based Catholic church, it was known that the conglomerate, awash with cash, was on the lookout for other possible investments but it was generally believed that the ailing House of Windsor was not on their list. The current head of the firm, Queen Elizabeth II (affectionately known as 'the Queen"), is currently chilling out in one of her many residences and was not immediately available for comment.
If the deal goes through, the familiar "By Appointment to Her Majesty the Queen" is likely to be replaced by "Emirates" on all merchandise.
