Who Wants To Be Prime Minister?

Gordon does, and if the price to pay is a certain "vagueness" about cuts in public spending, then it is a price that has to be paid. You cannot seriously expect him to come out and say that welfare benefits must be frozen and that pay in the public sector must be cut by at least 5.5%, especially as in a large number of constituencies the public sector makes up almost a majority of the electorate.

When you look at the misery in store it's hard to understand why ANYONE would want to win the election. I actually put this point of view to Gordon, asking what he would most miss about his present job. He said it was the chivalried loafer and the cosy Clydeside chats with Her Majesty the Queen of England.
