Have just been to see The King's Speech and thought it was a superb film, fully deserving all the accolades and awards that have come its way. Colin Firth is hotly tipped to win an oscar for his portrayal of George VI. If he DOES win, as he richly deserves to, it would nevertheless in some ways be a travesty of justice. Let me explain: how can anyone relegate Geoffrey Rush to the Best Supporting Actor category? He (and his character in the film) are in every way equal to Colin Firth. Indeed the equality between king and commoner is one of the most important points of the film. Couldn't Hollywood just this once make an exception and give them both an oscar for best actor?
