As an ex-heavyish smoker and as someone who still enjoys the occasional cigarette, I suppose I should declare an interest. Only a fool would deny the noxious effects of tobacco but I cannot understand why the authorities should zero in on cigarettes, whilst giving alcohol what looks suspiciously like a free ride and (in the United States) speaking of firearms with hushed awe and respect.
