From Pagny-le-Château, France, to Cimarron, New Mexico

August of this year. We are at the magnificent gîte which Laure and Guillaume have rented to escape the unbearable summer heat of Dubai. Restricted to the lightest of loads by back problems, I take Aurélien, our youngest grandchild, for a walk round the grounds. We sit down on a bench in the shade of glorious plane trees. After a while my gaze drifts up through the leaves to the clear blue sky above. Then in my imagination it pans, Google Earth like, across land, sea and ocean before scrolling down through the leaves of an isolated cottonwood tree near a place called Cimarron on the road from Raton to Taos.
Pagny or Cimarron - which is more beautiful?
