Oh dear

Every time I sneeze, I say "Oh dear". It's entirely instinctive and as often as not I'm not even aware that I've said it! But where does it come from? Is it a habit peculiar to me? To my family? To certain English people? I shall have to conduct a survey of various members of my family and perhaps of the English-speaking community in St Jean de Losne.
