How to Spend the Whole Day...

... doing absolutely nothing.

Today is Action day. I have some e-mails to write, some phone calls to make, a bit of pruning to do in the garden, a little shopping to do in the neighbouring village. I'll think I'll cycle in as it's quite fine and the exercise will do me good. It would be an opportunity to try out my wife's new bicycle computer if only we could get it to work. I looked it up on the internet - sigmasport.com - but they weren't much help. However, whilst I was online I found a very interesting reference to a free download called Khan Academy (http://www.khanacademy.org/), an extraordinary free application for learning about just about everything under the sun. For example, there is a lecture about Rogier van der Weyden's The Last Judgement which is to be found at the Hospices de Beaune. I have never got round to to seeing the painting in the flesh. After all, Beaune is a good 30 km away. Will I find time to look at the video? It really is incredible the things you can find on the Internet nowadays, as Encyclopaedia Britannica has recently discovered to its cost.

I have mixed feelings about the demise of Britannica's print edition: as an item of furniture it was unsurpassed but did anyone actually read it? Besides, the world changes so quickly nowadays that the encyclopaedia is out of date even before you buy it - rather like my computer and my car, not that I've bought a car for 12 years now.

The stress is beginning to build up as I still haven't actually done anything, so I decide to listen to some soothing music on my special New Age channel. What exactly is New Age music? Why not ask Siri? I did, and got the answer "Invalid input".  I wonder if there is an Old Age channel?

I'll just check to see if anyone's commented on my blog. Not yet, I see, but of course it's still early in the morning and besides there's nothing to stop me making my own comments. That's what I usually do.

My goodness, is that the time?
